A chuva trouxe segredos
No novo viço do pasto;
E semeou na terra negra
A ′vida' em forma de cascos...
Nos lentos passos que formam
No úmido chão da mangueira;
A ′moldura' mais crioula,
Pra uma "pintura" campeira.

Que se mostra frente aos olhos
De quem 'madruga′ primeiro;
Pela paciência dos anos,
Que o tempo chamou ′Sogueiro'...
E "despertava" o silêncio,
Que antes ′dormiu' na coxilha;
Trazendo o tranco dos mansos
Que o campo ′abriga' em tropilha.

E ′sobre as marcas no barro'
Que revelam a cada passo;
Fica um relato de antes
Na rude imagem dos cascos.
Que há de ser mais do que um quadro
Que a terra 'ajudou′ pintar;
Ou uma outra ′face' pra vida,
Depois que o barro secar...

São formas madrugadeiras
Reculutando a paciência
Do tempo que arma o laço
Pintando o céu e coxilha,
E o espelho da mangueira
Traduz da noite pra o dia
Como se fosse um campeiro
Pintando um quadro da vida.

Cada uma traz um marco,
Plantado de movimento,
Sensivelmente marcado
Pelo campo e sua razão,
Cada uma é a impressão
Da existência no pago.
Deixado a cada passo
Na talha bruta do chão.

Pena que as marcas do mundo,
Não tem fé simples de barro,
Que não fere carne e couro,
Somente molda o formato,
Daquilo que pode ser
E aquilo que vai viver
A cada amanhecer
Na ponta verde dos pastos.

About the Tracks in the Mud

The rain brought secrets
In the fresh vigor of the pasture;
And sowed on the black earth
The 'life' in the shape of hooves...
In the slow steps that form
On the damp ground of the mango grove;
The most creole 'frame',
For a "painting" of the countryside.

That is shown in front of the eyes
Of those who 'get up early' first;
By the patience of the years,
That time called 'Sogueiro'...
And "awakened" the silence,
That once 'slept' on the hill;
Bringing the thud of the gentle
That the countryside 'shelters' in a herd.

And 'over the tracks in the mud'
That reveal each step;
There remains a report from before
In the crude image of the hooves.
That must be more than a painting
That the earth 'helped' to paint;
Or another 'face' for life,
After the mud dries...

They are early morning forms
Retreating the patience
Of the time that sets the trap
Painting the sky and hill,
And the mirror of the mango grove
Translates from night to day
As if it were a cowboy
Painting a picture of life.

Each one brings a milestone,
Planted in movement,
Sensitively marked
By the countryside and its reason,
Each one is the impression
Of existence in the pago.
Left with each step
In the raw carving of the ground.

Pity that the marks of the world
Don't have the simple faith of mud,
That doesn't hurt flesh and leather,
Only shapes the format,
Of what can be
And what will live
At each dawn
On the green tip of the pastures.
