Тут вышел ее отец, и молвил: "Дочь моя пропала,
И, видит бог, в лице твоем, ее черты узнал я."
«Да, я твоя дочь родная, и верная твоя дитя,
Сражалась я в немецкой стороне, и вот мой Джонни у меня!»

И радостные костры пылали на каждом там холме,
Встречая молодую чету с немецкой той войны.

Отец ее согласие дал на брачный их союз,
