Un jour et sans valises
La lune fit un saut
Pour regarder la terre de moins haut
File la comète,
Le voyage fut beau
La face cachée par l′aile du manteau.
La surprise fut
Que la blanche surface
N'était pas neige.
Errant sur les pierres
Les pieds elle s′ouvrit
Et en cachant ses pleurs elle s'enfuit.
Marcher seul au monde
Pieds nus et sans un mot
C'est se clouer au cour le rire des sots.

Ne soit pas neige.
La luna si stancò
Di guardare il mondo di lassù;
Prese una cometa,
Il volto si velò
E fino in fondo al cielo camminò.
E sorpresa fù
Che la bianca distesa
Non fosse neve.
Eran solo sassi
E i piedi si ferì,
Piangendo di nascosto lei fuggì.
Affrontare il mondo a piedi nudi
Non si può
E dall′alto a spiarlo lei restò.

The Moon (La Luna)

One day, with no suitcase,
The moon took a leap,
To watch the earth from a lower peep.
The comet flies,
The journey was fine,
Her face hidden by the cloak's design.
The surprise was,
That the white surface
Wasn't snow.
Wandering on the stones,
She opened her feet,
And hiding her tears, she escaped in defeat.
To walk alone in the world,
Barefoot and without a word,
Is to nail the laughter of fools to your heart.
The surprise is no more,
That the white surface
Isn't snow.
The moon got tired,
Of watching the world from up there;
She took a comet,
Her face was veiled,
And she walked to the end of the sky.
And the surprise was,
That the white expanse
Wasn't snow.
It was only stones,
And her feet got hurt,
Crying in secret, she fled.
To face the world barefoot,
It can't be done,
And from above, she stayed to spy on it.
And surprise is no more,
That the white expanse
Isn't snow.
