Der Abend geht zu Ende, hab mich gut gefühlt im Rampenlicht.
Ich denk immer an den Spruch, man sieht nur die im Licht,
Die im Dunkeln sieht man nicht,
Da ist eine die das Bier zapft und Gott-weiß-was-alles-spült,
Die hat keiner heut gefragt, wie sie sich fühlt.

Wer fragt nach mir, das ist nicht fair,
Dass ein paar oben sind, die die Show abziehn.
Wer nur pflückt, was andere sähen,
Auf den kommts mal wie′n Boomerang zurück.

Da ist ein Typ im grauen Kittel, der nachher diesen Raum abschließt,
Der die Stühl' zusammenstellt, bevor er schlaff in sein Bett fällt
Und morgen in der Zeitung liest:
Von der Stimmung und der Szene
Und wieder kein Wort über ihn.

Wer fragt nach mir, das ist nicht fair,

Nicht jeder hat 'nen guten Stern,
Nicht jeder hat den Ehrgeiz gern,
Nicht jeder hat so 'nen Aufstiegswillen,
Doch immer schreien Leute in sich rein
- Und immer bleibt dann die Stille:

The evening is coming to an end, I felt good in the limelight.
I always think of the saying, you only see those in the light,
You don't see those in the dark,
There's one who taps the beer and God-knows-what-else-rinse,
No one asked her today how she feels.

Who asks about me, it's not fair,
That a few are at the top, who pull off the show.
Who only picks what others sowed,

There's a guy in a gray coat who closes this room afterwards,
Who puts the chairs together before he falls into his bed
