Sentiamo per ordine come andarono le cose

C′era una città nella valle fatata dove ogni persona era addomesticata
A vivere ogni giorno in modo che la propria condotta soddisfasse il re
In un cielo blu il sole scaldava i prati, pieni di fiori gialli e profumati
Le case erano grandi e tutte colorate, calde d'inverno, e fresche d′estate

La musica da sentire, e in questa forzata uniformità non c'era neanche un barlume di libertà

E nei locali pubblici divieto di pensare

Saranno così ubriachi da non poter più nuotare, ed uno dietro l'altro dovranno annegare
Eliminata quella feccia dalla mia nazione creerò una nuova star della canzone
Il pifferaio magico rispose: "va bene"
E dopo sua altezza gli offrì da bere
Ma so che poi uscì dalla corte coprendosi il viso per nascondere l′ombra di uno strano sorriso

Il pifferaio magico aveva un piano, montò sul suo cavallo e galoppò lontano
E città per città si fermava a suonare e in ogni posto i topi faceva ballare
Lo seguirono tutti nel suo viaggio nel paese
Tornò alla valle fatata ch'era già passato un mese e dietro lui c′erano topi a non finire
Un numero enorme impossibile da dire
Entrò nella via principale
Con il suo strano corteo arrivò al palazzo reale, "aiuto aiuto aiuto" gridò il re terrorizzato
Mi hanno abbattuto, mi hanno spodestato
Il pifferaio disse scusi maestà se ho regalato ai topi la sua città
Ma forse almeno loro sapranno rispettare la libertà di ognuno di fare e di pensare
