Le compraron silla de oro
Le compraron un caballo

Le bajaron luego uno muy grandote
Que no conocía todavía el bozal

Métanlo de noche y en aquel corral"

Pasaba las horas dándole silbidos
Y lo fustigaba con risa fatal

Y era que de noche se oía el relinchido
Y los resoplidos de aquel animal

Por fin la joven tan necia
Por fin se quiere casar
Llega de blanco a la iglesia
Con un charro de galán

Sus enamorados muy entristecidos
Se fueron colgando de un alto nogal
Y ella se reía parada en la iglesia
Vestida de blanco con risa fatal

Al charro morado ni lo conocían
Era forastero en aquel lugar
Quítese el sombrero todos le decían
Que aunque sea muy macho se va usté' a casar

Se quita el charro el sombrero
Y ante el horror general
Las crines se le salieron
Y se puso a relinchar

A patada limpia, del pálido cuello
Se llevó a la joven dentro del corral
Y nomás oíamos el grande resuello
Y los resoplidos de aquel animal

Fuimos a salvarla y hasta en automóvil
Oyendo su risa cerca del rosal
Y allí la encontramos pálida e inmóvil
Toda humedecida convertida en sal

Al caballo no lo hayamos
Despareció del lugar
Pero contentos estamos
Que hoy tenemos mucha sal
