Koot vüür Aach

1)
Kurz vor Acht ist es. Gleich ist es wieder soweit.
Auf die Bühne - es geht los. Es ist voll.
Optimal - klar, ich weiß, ich beklage mich ja nicht,
Bloß wie ich heute wieder draufkommen soll?
Draußen höre ich sie singen, im Takt wird geklatscht.
Gottseidank, die sind heute wohl okay.
Ich hoffe bloß, die kapieren nicht nur meinen Quatsch,
Sondern auch das, worum es mir geht.
Mir wird flau - ich beneide den Baßtyp, der gleich im Halbdunkel
Links hinter mir steht.

Kurz vor Acht - ich denke wieder: Ich will sie nicht sehen,
Die Maschine wie eine Art Musikbox,
In die wer seine erbärmlichen "Nüssele" (Kleingeld) schmeißt,
Die laut aufgedreht artig losrozzt.
Will keine wabernde Masse aus grölenden Köpfen,
Anonym, die mich leerkonsumiert, die man abspeisen kann,
Die man unmündig hält, mit Routinesprüchen manipuliert.
Will mir Fehler erlauben, Gefühle zeigen halt.
So wie ich bin will ich sein: Undressiert.

Kurz vor Acht - und ich will mich nicht abfinden mit:
"There is no business like..." - Verdammt, nein!
Bloß der Countdown, der läuft und so Dinger wie
"Wenn oder aber" sind leider zu spät.
So, Punkt Acht haben wir jetzt und die Firma rotiert.
Saallicht aus und die Scheinwerfer an.
Trotz dem Pudding im Knie bin ich elektrisiert
Und spüre zehntausend Mücken im Darm.
Jetzt heraus auf die Bühne, und der Drummer zählt vier.
Ich bin froh, daß ich Gas geben kann.
4)
Kurz nach Acht - was jetzt abläuft ist einfach zuviel.
Erst recht heute bekomme ich es nicht auf die Reihe.
All die Flämmchen, die brennen, die winkenden Hände
- Wunderkerzen sind auch mit dabei.
Dann schiebt eine Gänsehaut mir die vorige herunter.
Die Band jagt wie ein Tier los und strahlt.
Das ist eine paar hundert Mann Band, die rockt mit mir ab
- Auf der Bühne sechs, die anderen im Saal, die mich hochreißen,
Mitreißen, bis ich es schaffe, daß ich draufkomme
- Und alles andere egal

Campfire in Aachen

1)
It's shortly before Eight. It's about to happen again.
On stage - it's gonna start. It's full.
Optimal - okay, I know I shouldn't whine,
But how am I supposed to feel about this again today?
Outside I hear them sing, clapping to the beat.
Thank god they seem to be okay today.
I just hope they don't just grasp my banter,
But also understand what it is all about for me.
I get queasy - I envy the bassist, who stands half-hidden
behind me, on my left.
2)
Shortly before Eight - I think again: I don't want to see them,
The machine, like a kind of jukebox,
Into which someone throws their miserable "nuts" (change),
That, at high volume, obediently starts blaring.
I don't want a seething mass of yelling heads,
Anonymous, that consumes me without leaving a trace, that can be fobbed off,
That is kept in a state of immaturity, manipulated with routine phrases.
I want to allow myself mistakes, simply show my feelings.
I want to be how I am: Undisciplined.
3)
Shortly before Eight - and I don't want to accept that:
"There is no business like..." - No, damn it!
Just the countdown, that keeps running and things like
"If or but" unfortunately come too late.
So, right on Eight we have now and the company rotates.
Lights out in the hall and the spotlights on.
Despite the jelly in my knees I am electrified
And feel ten thousand mosquitoes in my gut.
Now out on stage, and the drummer counts four.
I am glad that I can step on the gas.
4)
Shortly after Eight - what's happening now is simply too much.
Today especially I can't get it together.
All the little flames that burn, the waving hands
- There are sparklers there too.
Then one gooseflesh chase the next down me.
The band takes off like an animal and beams.
That's a band of a few hundred that rocks out with me
- Six on stage, the others in the hall, who exhilarate me,
Carry me away, until I manage to get over it
- And everything else becomes irrelevant
