Das Schweigen der Spammer

Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär,
Wär unser Leben sicher fade, öd und leer.
Denn was wäre, wenn sie plötzlich verschwänden,
All die bunten Plakate von den Plakatwänden?
Wir würden auch alle viel weniger E-Mails kriegen.
Die ganze Spamfilter-Industrie käme zum Erliegen.
Und es poppten auch nicht mehr pausenlos zuhauf
Irgendwelche Fenster sympathisch auf dem Bildschirm auf.
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär,
Müssten wir 'ne halbe Stunde früher als bisher
Im Kino sein. Denn dann
Fingen alle Filme plötzlich pünktlich an.
Dann könnten wir nicht mal eben noch zum Tresen laufen
Und uns Popcorn oder Nachos mit Käse kaufen.
Und gucken wir 'n Film im Fernsehen bei uns zuhause,
Können wir auch nicht noch mal eben kurz aufs Klo gehen in der Werbepause.
Fernsehwerbung erzeugt bei mir übrigens extrem
So 'ne Art Pawlowschen Reflex:
Sobald sie kommt, tut's mich fast zerreißen.
Ich muss dann immer prompt ganz dringend schiffen oder ...
Fernsehwerbung dient somit nicht nur der Erbauung,
Bei mir ist sie vor allem gut für die Verdauung.
Und mit der hätte ich's vermutlich ziemlich schwer,
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär.
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär,
Gäb's im Fernsehen viele Sender eh nicht mehr,
Vor allem die mit dem Niveau von - wie könnte man es schildern? -vielleicht:
Bild-Zeitung in bewegten Bildern,
Wo sie immer, wenn sie grad mal keine Werbung senden,
Am oberen Bildrand Werbung einblenden.
Ohne solche Sender würden wir auch gar nicht wissen,
Wo wir spät nachts noch dringend anrufen müssen.
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär,
Wär'n auch im Radio viele Sender gar nicht mehr "on air",
Vor allem die mit den "besten Hits
Der 80er und 90er und dem Besten von heute!!!"
Und mit der "witzigsten Morningshow!!!",
Wo die Moderatoren Sachen machen,
über die sie immer selbst am allerlautesten lachen.
Das Radio verlöre all sein Flair,
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär.
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär,
Wär das nicht nur für die Konjunktur prekär.
Für manchen wär es regelrecht der Gnadenstoß.
Johannes B. Kerner beispielsweise wäre arbeitslos.
Und zu allem Unglück spräche sich ziemlich schnell herum:
"Wenn Werbung je etwas verkauft hat, dann uns für dumm."
Und wir fühlten uns plötzlich gar nicht mehr defizitär,
Wenn die Welt ohne Werbung wär,

The Silence of the Spammers

If the world were without advertising,
Our life would surely be boring, bleak, and empty.
For what would happen if they suddenly disappeared,
All those colorful posters from the billboards?
We would also get a lot fewer emails.
The entire spam filter industry would grind to a halt.
And there wouldn't be any more pop-ups constantly
Friendly windows on the screen.
If the world were without advertising,
We'd have to be at the cinema half an hour earlier than we are now.
Because then
All films would suddenly start on time.
Then we wouldn't even be able to run to the counter
And buy popcorn or nachos with cheese.
And if we watch a film on TV at home,
We wouldn't be able to go to the toilet during the commercial break.
By the way, TV commercials cause me to have an extreme
Kind of Pavlovian reflex:
As soon as they come on, I feel like I'm about to burst.
I always have to go to the toilet or ...
So TV advertising not only serves to edify,
For me, it's mainly good for digestion.
And I would probably have a hard time with it,
If the world were without advertising.
If the world were without advertising,
There would be many fewer channels on TV anyway,
Especially those with the level of - how could you describe it? - maybe:
Bild-Zeitung in moving pictures,
Where they always, when they don't happen to be showing commercials,
Show commercials on the top edge of the screen.
Without such channels, we wouldn't even know
Where we urgently need to call late at night.
If the world were without advertising,
Many radio stations would also be off the air,
Especially those with the "best hits
Of the 80s and 90s and the best of today!!!"
And with the "funniest morning show!!!",
Where the hosts do things
That they always laugh the loudest about themselves.
Radio would lose all its flair,

For some, it would be a real death knell.
Johannes B. Kerner, for example, would be unemployed.
And to top it all off, it would spread pretty quickly:
“If advertising ever sold anything, it was us for stupid.”
And we would suddenly not feel so deficient,
