Si cercava di aver le più belle
Lui, lui restava a contare le stelle
Sospirava e parlava di te
Alle carte era un vero campione
Lo chiamavano "il ras del quartiere"
Ma una sera giocando a scopone
Perse un punto parlando di te
Ed infine una notte si uccise
Per la gran confusione mentale
Fu un peccato perché era speciale
Proprio come parlava di te

Evenings at the café with friends
We'd talk about women and cars
We'd say, "They're pleasures and sorrows"
He'd cry and talk about you
If we went dancing in the countryside
We'd try to have the most beautiful ones
He, he'd stay counting the stars
He'd sigh and talk about you
He was a real champion at cards
They called him "the neighborhood ace"
But one evening while playing scopa
He lost a point talking about you
And finally, one night, he killed himself
Out of great mental confusion
It was a pity because he was special
Just like the way he talked about you

Now they say he was a poet
And that he knew how to talk about love
What does it matter if in the end you die
And can't talk about you anymore?
