Тропою мертвых шел, скрывая змей укусы.

Вслепую, по пятам, по лунной колее,
Скрипя клыками, нагоняя полночь,
С неистребимой жаждой прорваться по росе
К местам былинным, где протекает Колочь.

Зализывая раны, лежа на сырой земле,
Оскалившись, в упор разглядывая Смерти лико,
Истекший кровью, но живой вдвойне,
Я улыбнусь, сквозь нарастающие крики.

The Pathway

Searching through the leaves for traces of unseen beasts,
Stringing together beads from the amber glow of resin,
Through thickets of branches that lash against my cheeks,
I walked the path of the dead, hiding the bites of serpents.

Blindly, on your heels, along the moonlit track,
Gnashing my teeth, pursuing midnight,
With an insatiable thirst to break through the dew
To legendary lands where the Coloch flows.

Licking my wounds, lying on the damp earth,
Barring my teeth, staring into the face of Death,
Bleeding, but doubly alive,
I smile, through the mounting cries.
