The painter Paul Gauguin loved the light of Guanabara Bay
The composer Cole Porter adored its nights ablaze
Guanabara Bay
The anthropologist Claude Lévi-Strauss loathed Guanabara Bay
To him, it seemed a toothless mouth
And I, who knew it less, loved it more?
Half-blind from seeing it, so much my star
