Chiều xuống, lá khô rơi

Một con đò qua mấy sông
Ngoài kia mây trắng bay

Tóc xanh bây giờ đã pha thêm màu mây.

Ngày đó mái tranh xiêu
Từng đêm gió mưa trên đồng
Mẹ đã bước sang sông
Ngoại nuôi đàn em tháng năm
Ngoài kia cây mía lau
Buồn thiu xác xơ bên rào
Bóng mây ban chiều
Làm sao che bão giông.

Ơ, gió lạnh ngoài hiên, gió giật từng cơn
Buồm rơm che cháu qua đêm
Mưa rớt lạnh ngoài hiên, mái nhà bình yên
Dòng sông sóng xô đôi bờ như tiếng ngoại ầu ơ.
