We don't really know what we're doing here,
supposedly paying for something vile.
Rumors whisper of hells that exist,
with fire and ice, and of heaven's garden so mild.
We speak to you from purgatory,
any resemblance to reality is obvious, you see.
They say we're here because in past lives
we indulged in hate, a bitter decree.
That one stole, that one killed, that one raped,
that one cheated, and I, as vile as any other,
deep down our souls are good, it's said,
but we did a couple of things that burn like no other.
We suspect that if we amend it,
we'll have the option of a new life, a fresh start.
But the voice persists, reminding me of that,
for which they could send me to a place of no return, tearing us apart.
I have a tough personal battle,
fought far beyond the realms of good and evil's art.
I don't know what fate might hold for me,
but I might have to shoot in self-defense, playing my part.
That one was a judge, that one a cop, that one a banker,
that one a cleric, that one a doctor, that one an engineer, a top-ranker.
Though every foot in the mud is for a reason,
no one can help us better than ourselves, it's treason.
That's why I dance to the tune of the gods,
or devils, put on Tyrone, let's break the odds.
In metaphors I speak,
because the taste of reality is bitter, unique.
However, I still hold,
the forbidden apple fallen from the tree, bold.
The souls, in purgatory,
feel no love, no resentment, no hate, a sorry story.
They wander without a provisional course,
they are the souls in purgatory, a silent force.
Souls walk with poems without judgment they condemn,
sentences tied to eternity they wish they could stem.
They wish redemption would appear, that they would revive,
but they pay for sins they don't even recall, just strive.
In the midst of a shooting, I was left like a colander,

in just a second his life was measured, a sudden immersion.

Wandering the paths of damnation,
of the seven sins, none have salvation.
Heavenly angels show the cry,
of who fell without the redeemer's pardon, from the sky.
While on earth terror still reigns,
in this plane of spirits where those who died remain.
Waiting for candles to be lit for them, to be illuminated with love's flame,
amidst so much darkness that accompanies them since they left, it's a shame.
