C'est un serpent python.
C'est un python serpent
Qui se promène dans la forêt
En cherchant à dévorer

Car Le serpent python a faim.
Il a une faim sans fin!
Mais bêtes et gens sont partis hier,
Loués par la Metro Goldwyn Mayer
Pour figurer dans un film de Tarzan
Qui doit rapporter beaucoup d'arzent!
Et le serpent piteux
Est triste et s'mord la queue
Car il comprend, ô désespoir,
Qu'il ne mang'ra pas ce soir.
Soudain, le bois s'éveille.
Arrivent des appareils
De prises de vues de prise de son.
C'est la scène du grand frisson.
On lâche des animaux:
Des lions et des Rhino-
Céros qu'ont l'air féroce comme tout
Mais sont doux comme des toutous.
Notre serpent, du haut d'une branche, en l'air,
Voit m'sieur Johny Weissmüller
Qui fait joujou avec un éléphant.
Quel joli tableau pour les enfants,
Mais tant de cinéma
N'remplit pas l'estomac
Du pauvre python qui n'aura pas,
Qui n'aura pas de repas.
Quand une idée subtile.
Germe au cur du reptile
Profitant d'une répétition
Voici qu'avec précaution,
Dans l'ombre du crépuscule,
Il avance, il recule
Puis happe un morceau minuscule,
Un morceau de pellicule
Qui dépassait d'une boîte en fer.
C'était la grande scène du Val d'Enfer
Tournée l'matin dans une cloche à plongeur
Pour mieux voir évoluer le nageur
Et, comme un spaghetti,
Le Python en appétit
Avale deux cents mètres, à présent,
Des aventures de Tarzan!
Puis il s'en va joyeux,
Pensant: "C'est merveilleux.
Je vais dormir maint'nant trois s'maines
Digérer ce film sans peine.
Rampant par-ci, par-là,
Il s'enroule, oh la la,
Autour d'un cocotier géant
Mais soudain s'écrie: "J'ai en... j'ai en
J'ai envie d'vomir, c'est affreux: tu m'as
Empoisonné, cinéma!
Tarzan n'est pas pour les pauvres pythons.
J'en ai mal jusqu'au bout des tétons."
Et la moralité
Du python dépité,
C'est qu'parfois trop d'ciné parleur
Peut vous donner mal au cur
Ou que les hommes digèrent, dit-on,
Mieux que les serpents (bis)
Python.

The Python Serpent

He's a python serpent, my dear.
A serpent python, it's clear,
Slithering through the forest's heart,
Seeking a creature to tear apart,
A cute little bunny, perhaps,
Or a slender black man, who naps,
For the python serpent, he's famished, you see,
His hunger is endless, eternally.
But creatures and people, they left yesterday,
Hired by the Metro Goldwyn Mayer, they say,
To star in a Tarzan film so grand,
That's sure to bring riches across the land!
And the serpent, so pitiful and glum,
Is sad and bites his own tail, numb,
For he realizes, with utter despair,
He won't have a single bite to spare.
Suddenly, the woods awaken with a start,
Equipment arrives, playing its part,
Cameras and microphones, a bustling scene,
It's the thrilling moment, the silver screen.
Animals are released, a wild array,
Lions and rhinoceroses, ready to play,
Looking fierce and fearsome, that's their role,
But they're gentle as puppies, bless their soul.
Our serpent, from a branch up high in the air,
Sees Mr. Johnny Weissmuller, standing there,
Playing around with an elephant so grand.
What a lovely picture for children, understand?
But all this movie magic and show,
Doesn't fill the stomach, you know,
Of the poor python, who's left with a sigh,
Without a single morsel to try.
Then a subtle idea takes its hold,
Within the reptile's heart, it unfolds.
Taking advantage of a rehearsal's time,
With caution and stealth, he starts his climb,
In the shadows of twilight, he creeps and he crawls,
Moving forward, then backward, heeding nature's calls,
And snatches a minuscule piece, so slight,
A fragment of film, catching the light,
Protruding from an iron box nearby,
It was the grand scene of Hell's Valley, oh my!
Filmed in the morning, in a diving bell's embrace,
To better observe the swimmer's grace.
And like a spaghetti strand, thin and long,
The hungry python, with appetite strong,
Swallows two hundred meters, just like that,
Of Tarzan's adventures, what a cat!
Then he departs, feeling joyous and light,
Thinking, "This is wonderful, what a sight!
I'll sleep now for three weeks, it's plain to see,
Digesting this film with ease, happily.
Crawling here and there, with a gentle sway,
He coils himself, oh la la, come what may,
Around a giant coconut tree so tall,
But suddenly cries out, "I feel... I feel...
Like throwing up, it's awful, you see, you've
Poisoned me, cinema, woe is me!
Tarzan is not for poor pythons, I confess,
It hurts all the way down to my scales, I profess."
And the moral of the story, it's clear,
From the python, filled with despair,
Is that sometimes, too much talkie show,
Can give you a stomach ache, don't you know,
Or that humans digest, so they say,
Better than serpents, night and day (repeat)
Python.
