C'est un serpent python.

Mais bêtes et gens sont partis hier,
Loués par la Metro Goldwyn Mayer
Pour figurer dans un film de Tarzan
Qui doit rapporter beaucoup d'arzent!
Et le serpent piteux
Est triste et s'mord la queue
Car il comprend, ô désespoir,
Qu'il ne mang'ra pas ce soir.
Soudain, le bois s'éveille.
Arrivent des appareils
De prises de vues de prise de son.
C'est la scène du grand frisson.
On lâche des animaux:
Des lions et des Rhino-
Céros qu'ont l'air féroce comme tout
Mais sont doux comme des toutous.
Notre serpent, du haut d'une branche, en l'air,
Voit m'sieur Johny Weissmüller
Qui fait joujou avec un éléphant.
Quel joli tableau pour les enfants,
Mais tant de cinéma
N'remplit pas l'estomac
Du pauvre python qui n'aura pas,
Qui n'aura pas de repas.
Quand une idée subtile.
Germe au cur du reptile
Profitant d'une répétition
Voici qu'avec précaution,
Dans l'ombre du crépuscule,
Il avance, il recule
Puis happe un morceau minuscule,
Un morceau de pellicule
Qui dépassait d'une boîte en fer.
C'était la grande scène du Val d'Enfer
Tournée l'matin dans une cloche à plongeur
Pour mieux voir évoluer le nageur
Et, comme un spaghetti,
Le Python en appétit
Avale deux cents mètres, à présent,
Des aventures de Tarzan!
Puis il s'en va joyeux,
Pensant: "C'est merveilleux.
Je vais dormir maint'nant trois s'maines
Digérer ce film sans peine.
Rampant par-ci, par-là,
Il s'enroule, oh la la,
Autour d'un cocotier géant
Mais soudain s'écrie: "J'ai en... j'ai en
J'ai envie d'vomir, c'est affreux: tu m'as
Empoisonné, cinéma!
Tarzan n'est pas pour les pauvres pythons.
J'en ai mal jusqu'au bout des tétons."
Et la moralité
Du python dépité,
C'est qu'parfois trop d'ciné parleur
Peut vous donner mal au cur
Ou que les hommes digèrent, dit-on,
Mieux que les serpents (bis)
Python.

He's a python serpent, my dear.
A serpent python, it's clear,
Slithering through the forest's heart,
Seeking a tasty treat to start,
A plump little bunny, perhaps,
Or a slender black man, who knows his traps,
For the python serpent is famished, you see.
His hunger is endless, eternally!
But creatures and people have vanished, it's true,
Hired by the Metro Goldwyn crew,
To star in a Tarzan film so grand,
That promises riches across the land!
And the serpent, feeling quite low,
Is sad and bites his tail, don't you know,
For he realizes, with deep despair,
He'll have an empty plate, beyond compare.
Suddenly, the woods come alive with a start,
Equipment arrives, playing its part,
Cameras and sound gear, all set in place,
For the thrilling scene, a grand chase.
Animals are released, a wild array,
Lions and rhinos, come what may,
Looking quite ferocious, it would seem,
But gentle as puppies, living the dream.
Our serpent, from a branch up high,
Sees Mr. Johnny Weissmuller fly,
Playing around with an elephant grand.
A lovely picture, you understand,
But all this cinema, it's plain to see,
Doesn't fill the stomach, not happily,
Of the poor python, who won't have a bite,
No meal for him, day or night.
Then a cunning idea takes hold,
Within the reptile, brave and bold,
During a rehearsal, he makes his way,
With caution, he creeps, come what may,
In the twilight's shadows, he does tread,
Moving back and forth, it's said,
Then snatches a tiny piece, so small,
A piece of film, that's all,
Sticking out of a metal can,
The grand scene from the Valley of Man,
Filmed that morning, deep underwater,
To see the swimmer, a true evader.
And like spaghetti, long and thin,
The hungry python dives right in,
Swallowing two hundred meters, it's true,
Of Tarzan's adventures, through and through!
Then he goes on his way, feeling gleeful,
Thinking, "This is truly delightful,
I'll sleep now for three whole weeks,
Digesting this film, with nary a squeak.
Crawling here and there, with a slither,
He coils himself, oh what a bother,
Around a giant coconut tree,
But suddenly cries out, "Woe is me,
I feel like vomiting, it's quite absurd,
You've poisoned me, cinema, on my word!
Tarzan is not for poor pythons, I see,
My nipples ache, in misery."
And the moral of this tale, my dear,
From the python, filled with fear,
Is that sometimes, too much talkie show,
Can make your stomach churn, you know,
Or that humans digest, as they say,
Better than serpents, come what may (repeat)
Python.
