Es gibt gute Gründe, mit breitem Hintern
Im Mußtopf des Lebens zu überwintern.

Bin polizeilich gemeldet und leidlich gesund.
Auto und Hund sind noch so ein Grund.

Das Leben ist herrlich, fast möchte man schrein
Und bis an das Ende sein eigner Buchhalter sein.
Man liest die Zeitung, man trinkt sein Bier,
Man kegelt und segelt und vögelt mit ihr.
Es gibt gute Gründe, das Leben zu loben,
Nach unten zu treten, zu beten nach oben.

Doch wo wir uns auf Kredit und Rabatt
Die Wochenburg mit Familiengruft baun,
Liegt immer noch am Rande der Stadt
Der Rangierbahnhof mit dem Bretterzaun
Und irgendwo ist ein lockeres Brett...

Good Reasons

There are good reasons, with a wide backside
To hibernate in the trash can of life.
One would be, I have something to eat
And the salary increase is not forgotten.
I am registered with the police and reasonably healthy.
Car and dog are another reason.

Life is wonderful, one almost wants to cry out
And be his own accountant until the end.
One reads the newspaper, one drinks one's beer,
One bowls and sails and screws with her.
There are good reasons to praise life,
To kick downwards, to pray upwards.

But where we build ourselves on credit and discount
The fortress with family crypt,
