1-Havia um homem rico e avarento
Que vestia roupas finas e era o tal
Banquete requintado todo dia
Sem receio, não temia nenhum mal

Pobre Lázaro jazia em sua porta
Com feridas onde os cães vinham lamber
Sofrimento, abandono, indiferença
Muita fome sem migalhas pra comer.

Morre o pobre, é acolhido pelos anjos
Conduzido para o seio de Abraão
Morre o rico que termina sepultado
Esquecido numa eterna solidão.

2-O rico entre mortos em tormentos
Avistou de longe Lázaro e Abraão
Ao menos uma gota de água fria
Suplicou-lhes por piedade e compaixão

"Lembras bem", disse Abraão ao avarento
Recebeste bens demais em teu viver
Por sua vez os sofrimentos do mendigo
Vão mudar e vida plena conceder.

3-Terrível é o abismo, intransponível
Sem maneira de passar de lá pra cá
Se Lázaro avisar os cinco irmãos
Vão mudar e não virão neste lugar.

Lá se encontram Moisés e os profetas
Que os escutem no que podem lhes dizer
Não adianta ir alguém ressuscitado
Se não querem suas vidas converter.

The Rich Man and Lazarus

1-There was a rich man and a miser
