Mundus est in varium saepe variatus
Et ad status ordine sui degradatus:
Ordo mundi penitus est inordinatus,
Mundus nomine tenus stat, sed est prostratus.

Sperabamus, quod adhuc quisquam remaneret,
Mundum qui precipitem dando sustineret,
Pleno cornu copie munera preberet,
Nomen largie, sed et rem, quod plus est, haberet.

Mundus ergo labitur, nullus hunc sustentat;
Currit, cadit, corruit, quis eum retentat,
Largitatis semitas nemo iam frequentat
Actus largi strenuos nemo representat

Haec dum nudo nudam se propter hoc iniungit,
Manu, lingua, labiis palpat, lingit, ungit;
At venus medullitus scalpit, prurit, pungit!

The State of the World

The world is oft-times changed variously
And is degraded in the order of its being:
The order of the world is thoroughly disordered,
The world stands in name only, but is overthrown.

We hoped that someone would still remain,
Who could sustain the headlong world by giving,
Would offer gifts with open hand,
Would have the name, and more, the substance of bounty.

The world therefore falls, no one sustains it;
It runs, it falls, it collapses, who can hold it back,
No one frequents the paths of liberality anymore
Acts of liberality strenuous no one represents

This while naked combines herself with herself therefor,
With hand, tongue, lips she feels, licks, anoints;
But Venus itches, pricks, stings deeply!
