Komen ist uns eine liehtiu Ougenweyde
Man siht der rosen wunder uf der heide,
Die bluomen dringent durch das gras
Wie schone ein wise getouwet was,
Da mir min geselle zeinem kranze las!
Nu ist der küele winder gar zergangen,
Diu naht ist kurz, der tac beginnet langen,
Es hebet sich eine wünneclichiu zit
Diu all der werlde vreude giht
Baz gesungen nie der vogel e noch sit.
Der walt hat siner grise gar vergezzen,
Der meie ist uf ein grüenez zwi gesezzen,
Er hat gewunnen loubes vil,
Bint dir balde, trutgespil
Du weist wol, daz ich mit einem ritter wil.

Eye's Delight

A radiant vision has come our way,
On the heath marvel the roses on display,
Flowers pushing through the grass,
How fair was a meadow bedecked,
Where my companion gathered blooms for my headdress!
Now the chilling winter has wholly departed,
Nights are short, days now longer hearted,
A time of enchantment is taking hold,
Bringing joy to the world, so we are told,
Never before or since have birdsong such pleasure extolled.
The forest casts aside its somber gray cloak,
May is enthroned on a verdant oak,
With foliage anew it is dressed,
Be quick, my love, with haste be blessed,
You know right well to a knight I am betrothed.
