When I was 15, 16, when I really started to play guitar
I definitely wanted to become a musician
It was almost impossible because it was the dream was so big
That I didn't see any chance because, I was living in a little town, was studying
And when I finally broke away from school and became a musician
I thought, "Well, now I may have a little bit of a chance"
Because all I really wanted to do is music
And not only play music, but compose music

At that time, in Germany, in '69, '70, they had already discotheques
So, I would take my car, would go to a discotheque
Sing maybe 30 minutes
I think I had about seven, eight songs
I would partially sleep in the car
Because I didn't want to drive home, and that helped me for about
Almost two years to survive in the beginning

I wanted to do an album with the sounds of the '50s
The sounds of the '60s, of the '70s, and then have a sound of the future
And I said, "Wait a second, I know the synthesizer
Why don't I use the synthesizer, which is the sound of the future?"
And I didn't have any idea what to do
But I knew I needed a click, so we put a click on the 24-track
Which then was synced to the Moog Modular
I knew that could be a sound of the future
But I didn't realize how much the impact would be

My name is Giovanni Giorgio
But everybody calls me Giorgio

Once you free your mind about a concept of
Harmony and of music being "correct"
You can do whatever you want
So, nobody told me what to do
And there was no preconception of what to do

Als ich 15, 16 war, als ich wirklich anfing, Gitarre zu spielen,
wollte ich unbedingt Musiker werden.
Es war fast unmöglich, weil der Traum so groß war,
dass ich keine Chance sah, weil ich in einer kleinen Stadt lebte und studierte.
Und als ich mich endlich von der Schule löste und Musiker wurde,
dachte ich: "Nun, jetzt habe ich vielleicht eine kleine Chance",
denn alles, was ich wirklich tun wollte, war Musik,
und nicht nur Musik spielen, sondern Musik komponieren.

Damals, in Deutschland, 1969, 1970, gab es bereits Diskotheken.
Also nahm ich mein Auto und fuhr zu einer Diskothek,
sang vielleicht 30 Minuten.
Ich glaube, ich hatte ungefähr sieben, acht Songs.
Ich habe teilweise im Auto geschlafen,
weil ich nicht nach Hause fahren wollte, und das hat mir geholfen, für ungefähr
fast zwei Jahre am Anfang zu überleben.

Ich wollte ein Album mit den Klängen der 50er Jahre machen,
den Klängen der 60er, der 70er und dann einen Klang der Zukunft haben.
Und ich sagte: "Warte mal, ich kenne den Synthesizer,
warum benutze ich nicht den Synthesizer, der der Klang der Zukunft ist?"
Und ich hatte keine Ahnung, was ich tun sollte,
aber ich wusste, ich brauchte einen Klick, also haben wir einen Klick auf die 24-Spur-Maschine gelegt,
der dann mit dem Moog Modular synchronisiert wurde.
Ich wusste, das könnte ein Klang der Zukunft sein,
aber ich habe nicht realisiert, wie groß die Wirkung sein würde.

Mein Name ist Giovanni Giorgio,
aber alle nennen mich Giorgio.

Wenn du deinen Geist einmal von einem Konzept von
Harmonie und davon, dass Musik "korrekt" ist, befreist,
kannst du tun, was immer du willst.
Also hat mir niemand gesagt, was ich tun soll,
und es gab keine vorgefasste Meinung darüber, was zu tun ist.
