Fructus ventris generósi
Rex effúdit géntium.
Nobis datus, nobis natus
Ex intácta Vírgine,
Et in mundo conversátus,
Recumbens cum frátribus,
Cibis in legálibus,
Cibum turbæ duodenæ

Verbum caro, panem verum
Verbo carnem éfficit,
Fitque Sanguis Christi merum,

Pange, Lingua Gloriosi

My tongue, proclaim the glorious praises
Of the King, whom all the world obeys;
Born of a Virgin unpolluted,
True God of God, in person rooted;
Who, when in flesh he lived below,
Sat at the supper with his brethren,
And with his own hands gave unto them
The food by which their souls shall live.
The Word Incarnate, bread of heaven,
Into his flesh our flesh hath given;
Wine, too, the blood, which he outpoured,
To be a ransom for the world.
And though his bodily presence leaves us,
To comfort us his grace he leaves us;
The Sacramental bread and wine,
Are emblems of that love divine.
Let faith our fainting spirits feed,
And raise our hearts above despair;
In his dear name our souls shall read
A passport to the bliss we share.
