La otra noche paseando empapao por la ciudad

Y encendí el pitillo como el que enciende un pastel
Y anoté el lugar, la fecha y la hora en un papel
Y el humo me envolvía en un ambiente teatral
Decorando un escenario para el ritual
Chupe otra vez
Alimentando mi ansiedad
Y en el pulmón
La nicotina se mezcló con soledad
Y una voz me susurró: "No hay mejor refugio que el arrullo de un bar"

Y cuando ya creía que llegaba aquí el final
Entraron dos amigos con afán de celebrar
Me ofrecieron un cigarro y mi firmeza se negó
Mostrando mi colilla con satisfacción

The Last Cigarette

The other night, walking around soaked in the city
I decided to seriously quit smoking
And I went into a bar although I wasn't thirsty
To smoke a cigarette for the last time
And there I thought:
"I might fail again"
"No!"

And I lit the cigarette like someone lighting a cake
And I wrote down the place, the date and the time on a piece of paper
And the smoke enveloped me in a theatrical atmosphere

I took another drag

The nicotine mixed with loneliness
And a voice whispered to me: "There is no better refuge than the lullaby of a bar"

And when I thought the end was near
Two friends came in eager to celebrate
They offered me a cigarette and my resolve refused
Showing my cigarette butt with satisfaction
But I stayed there
Until they closed the bar
And I
Went out drunk like a duck in a puddle
And I saw that all my tobacco was gone
And I went back to my house completely intoxicated
Happy and defeated
Totally enslaved by my freedom
