Dans les hautes plaines d'Anatolie plaines de steppes
Vivait un homme nommé Abdel ZEYNIKI élève d′Alep
C′était un vieux chanteur turc un chanteur aveugle
Bon poète et joueur de luth plume d'aigle comme ongle
Il chantait ce qu′il ne voyait pas la faune et la flore

De la vie des hommes et de leur trépas maudite soit l'aumône
Pour qu′il chante fallait une belle veillée digne d'ancêtres
S′il chantait c'était pour parjurer le mauvais sort fait aux êtres

Dans une haute ferme d'Anatolie fume une chambre
Dans laquelle chante Abdel ZEYNIKI quittant son ombre
