After three good years together

Well I looked back to the corner
Where the jukebox once stood proud
Some clown was playing records
Too fast, too long, and too loud

And it must have been a big mistake
To try and speak my mind
So as they were asking me to leave
I cried out one more time:

"What'd you do with those swingin' doors?"
"And where's the sawdust on the floor?"
"Why's everybody wearin' suits and ties?"
"From where I stand I can't believe my eyes"

"And who's idea was it to hang these ferns?"

Nach drei guten Jahren zusammen
Hatten wir unseren ersten großen Streit
Also ging sie zu ihrer Mutter
Und ich fuhr einfach los

Eine alte vertraute Straße entlang

Doch als ich durch die Tür trat
Da stand so etwas wie ein Oberkellner
Er musterte mich von oben

Und sagte: "Kann ich Ihnen helfen?"

Und ich sagte:
"Was habt ihr mit den Schwingtüren gemacht?"
"Und wo ist das Sägemehl auf dem Boden?"
"Warum trägt hier jeder Anzug und Krawatte?"
"Von hier aus kann ich meinen Augen nicht trauen"

"Und wessen Idee war es, diese Farne aufzuhängen?"
"Diese nagelneue Bar hat keine Brandspur"
"Ich glaub, ich bin woanders falsch hier"
"Ich brauche eine Jukebox mit Countrysong!"

Ich blickte in die Ecke zurück
Wo die Jukebox einst stolz stand
Irgendein Narr spielte Platten
Zu schnell, zu lang und zu laut

Es war wohl ein großer Fehler
Dass ich versuchte, ehrlich zu sein
Als sie mich baten zu gehen
Schrie ich noch einmal laut:
