La otra noche iba rumbiando,

Empecé a dar la vuelta,
Como perro desconfiau,
Cuando al llegar a un costao,
Con un bulto tropecé,
Era un rebenque y lo alcé,
Gritando: "! china que es esto!"
Y ella buscando pretexto,
Lloró y me dijo: "! no sé!."
Eché mano a mi facón,
Como pa' hacerla pedazos,
Como pa' hacerla pedazos;
Mas no pudieron mis brazos,
Cometer tan mala acción,
"! perdón, gaucho, perdón!"
La mala mujer pedía,
Y yo otra vez, entuavía,
Sobre su negra cabeza,
Le dije con tristeza, bueno, china,! hasta otro día!.
De ella no supe más nada,
Y asigún oí decir,
Y asigún oí decir,
La pobre vino a morir,
Como perra abandonada,
Pobre china, desgraciada,
Que muerte tan infernal,
Talvés yo me muera igual,
Al peso de su vagoña,
Y asi termina esta historia,
De aquel rebenque fatal.

The Fatal Rebenque

I was riding along the other night,
