Der Glimmer erlöscht, die Lichter sind aus.

Ist der Löwe noch krank?

Die nächste Show geht los.
Der Clown ist heute ganz gut drauf –
Kleiner Mann ganz groß.

The glare fades, the lights are out.
The tent has long been empty.
Then he quickly sweeps the ring out,
And then he leaves too.
Did the people enjoy it,
Did it delight them?
Did anyone not laugh?
Was it a failure today?

These thoughts torment him,
When he climbs into his bed.
Where is he going tomorrow,
Which city was this today?

Are the horses rested?
Is the Lion still sick?

High on the rope in the wall?

And again the curtain rises,
The next show begins.
The clown is in a very good mood today,
Small man very big.
The audience goes wild,
The lion is healthy.
