Que ojalá la lucha se hubiera reducido a morderte las caderas

That a thunder ended up piercing my throat
And I had to escape
"Your life or your heart?", someone said to me
"I want to spend my life in yours", I said

But that was not possible
It was as impossible as a fulfilled platonic love
Like you and I fulfilled, like you
Like asking you to stay after or come before
Like keeping you lit across the street
Seeing you at night without being able to touch you
And not consume myself in the effort
Of wanting your impossibility next to my pillow

Like denying you and not denying myself in the attempt, like forgetting your hair
Like pretending you're not behind every word that disturbs me
Like pretending to know, not missing you and achieving it
Like agreeing, believing that it is true
That it is the cold that makes the absences longer
When now, the only one that exists is yours
In the middle of this bonfire of ashes
You just left and your noises are heard by them at night
It was so impossible, as impossible as asking you to stay with me

The storm surprised me with you trapped in my gaze
Throwing bottles into the sea full of kisses
That never arrived, that got lost, that went to the wrong port
That broke trying to reach my mouth
And confused my boats and filled my lips with crystals
That, glued to the window, frozen, only waited to see you appear

And then one day I let myself be defeated, I forgot where to look for you

And I wrote all the antonyms of your name in my ventricles

Without realizing that where you really are is in me
And that you won't leave until I decide

But first, I wanted to tell you about the sky that surrounds you
That when you speak, I really believe that clocks are meaningless

I wanted to tell you that my role was always reduced to contemplating you from afar
And turning you into ink
That we could and, although we weren't, we will always be
I hope you understand that
That we made love one night that we rained
And that's why I'll take you with me always

I wish the escape had been from your bed to mine
I wish the fight had been reduced to biting your hips
And not this tiredness full of mute dark circles
I wish I could see you again every winter of my life
And you would see that with you I was never in a hurry
Because meeting you is travelling and kissing, sweet and slow
A winter day, full of cold on the outside and love on the inside

And I hope you smile and don't blame or punish yourself
You change lives, but not destinies
