Lungo le file di sale
Andava il vento che pace non ha;
Pioggia di gocce di mare
Sopra il fango di città.

File di muri di cera
In mano al vento che vero non è;
Sole che viene di sera,
Non si spiegano perché.

E′ la vita che piano muore
Ed il cielo non ha colore;
è la vita che si allontana
E il mondo grida il suo dolore.
E' la vita che lenta cade
Tra la polvere delle strade.
Una nuvola si allontana;
Guarda dove và.
Siamo tutti qua.

Ecco ci fanno chiamare,
Siamo pronti a sapere di noi;
Sorsi di vino da bere
Con il pane che ci dai.

Cosa dovevano fare allora
Quelli che furono re?
Ciò che dovevano dare
Loro presero per sè.

E chi fece morire il cuore
Nella lotta per un potere
E chi fece cadere il fuoco
Lungo mille e più frontiere
