I picture the first Voyager
Sailing through space like a comet for half a century
Having flown away from us 20 billion kilometers
It's all alone there, amidst emptiness and silence
With an unquenchable hope of meeting at least someone
It's inanimate, but it evokes emotions
When I think about it, I feel sad
I so love gazing into the darkness
Of boundless space,
Hoping that it will be found,
Where a compass is useless.

That's what solitude is, and here I am whining.
There's fog outside because of the high humidity
That's all we needed for more beauty
But it's thousands of light-years to the nearest nebula
Surrounded by radiation and the vacuum of emptiness
A long journey ahead through the pulsating light of pulsars
To an abode of life unknown to us
Past treacherous black holes and their quasars
The most important thing is not to cross the event horizon
The perish of galaxies and the flares of supernovas
Mysteries of the universe that we're unable to understand
No sounds, no conversations
Silence, darkness and the chill of indifference
For space is vast, none has ever seen its boundaries
And it doesn't give a damn about the speck of blue
Much less for the device that's possibly perished
And its last signal to us is crawling at the speed of light
But in the end it's just a piece of iron
Bearing information about us on a golden plate
And let space be its domain, while I belong here
And I'll hardly be able to part with it in this life
And even if something happens to it there,
Or perhaps has already happened
My beloved wife and cat are waiting for me at home
And I'm confident that all will be well with me!
