De calça curta e boné
Rumando o trecho solito

Quando lhe aborda um Ferreiro
E pede por um favor
Que levasse uma cunha
Pra entregar a outro senhor

Menino mui prestativo
Atendeu o tal pedido
E levou a dita Cunha
Ao destino prometido

Mas ao chegar na morada
O senhor lhe questionou
Pois faltava uma cadena
E o menino confirmou

"Só lhe trago esta cunha
Nada mais foi enviado
Talvez por esquecimento
Ou por mal intencionado"

Alguns dias se passaram
E então o gurizito
Foi chamado com seu pai
Junto ao fórum do distrito

Pois tinha sido acusado
De roubar a tal cadena
Que não fora sido entregue
Naquela tarde torena

Heis então que o ferreiro
Calavera por instinto
Indicou por testemunha
Um amigo do réu piazito

E este não pode mentir
Ao ver seu fiel parceiro
E desvendou a verdade
Que condenava o ferreiro

Assim contava o velhito
Essa história traiçoeira

The Boy and the Blacksmith

On the road of a village
A boy trotted
With short pants and a cap
Heading the solitary stretch

When a Blacksmith accosts him
And asks for a favor
To carry a wedge
To deliver to another gentleman

A very helpful boy
He fulfilled the said request
And took the said Wedge
To the promised destination

But upon arriving at the residence
The gentleman questioned him
For a chain was missing
And the boy confirmed it

"I only bring you this wedge
Nothing else was sent
Perhaps by forgetfulness
Or by malicious intent"

A few days passed
And then the boy
Was called with his father
To the forum of the district

For he had been accused
Of stealing the said chain
Which had not been delivered
On that particular afternoon

Here is when the blacksmith
A schemer by instinct
Indicated as a witness
A friend of the accused little boy

And this one could not lie
Upon seeing his faithful partner
And he revealed the truth
That condemned the blacksmith

Thus the old man told
This treacherous story
"Cursed" blacksmith
By instinct, a schemer...
