ذاهل شال به صوتنا المختكر
والروابي نهضت فوق تجوال النظر
يا ترى العمر قمر

From Our Hills, the Moon

From our hills, the moon came, hope brought him news,
Randa came to him, and the dolls of other beauties.
He often surprised us, barefoot upon the flowers,
Torn from his robe by whims that leave no trace.
Let them be, for our whispers clothe the moon,
The maidens around him in the hills are a necklace of sparks.
A bursting laugh and a song in the path,
And the secluded evening after those images,
Bewildered, carried by our invented voice,
And the hills rose above the wandering gaze.
I wonder if life is a moon?
