Hoy vino de la tele
-Como de cualquier informe más
De lo que está ocurriendo
Aquí en el México del 2011-,
Que cuelgan asesinos un edicto
Sobre un cementerio en ruedas,
Y me tiene con conflictos desde entonces,
Pues se proclaman dueños de la plaza
Donde ningún otro infunde más terror,
Y acusan a otros grupos
Y a gobernadores
De pactos secretos con los gringos.

Y a mí me confía un amigo
Que ya mañana mismo
Se consigue una pistola
Que ya es cosa de tirar para vivir,
Que no piensa ponerle a nadie
Fáciles las cosas, dice:
"¡Yo voy a defenderme,
Yo no me voy así!"
Que si su vida viera amenazada,
Se las iban a ver con gente armada.

Se ha dicho que acabar
Con la ignorancia del consumidor, en vez
Del traficante, solucionan de verdad;
Pero hay quienes trafican
Y otros secuestran y matan
Para probar lo que creen
Que hay que probar.

¿Adónde está esta vez un buen consejo?
Si la paz tiende hacia aquellos
Que la pueden mantener.

Si un hombre
Quiere ser un hombre,
Y ya no más cordero,
Pareciera un acto de valor
Y de dignidad también.

Quisiera yo poder ver
Más allá de lo aparente
Para probarme a cantar por la razón.
Y es que nunca cesó
La venta de estupefacientes,
Aunque es un día más que avanza
La violencia en la nación.

Y me dice un amigo
Que busca una pistola,
Que ahora es cosa de tirar para vivir,
Que: "No van a quitarme la vida
Sin que haga yo algo", dice.
"¡Yo voy a defenderme,
Yo no me voy así!"

Here in Mexico in 2011,
That killers hang a decree down
About a cemetary on wheels.
It has me conflicted ever since,
Because they claim ownership of the city
No one else inflicts more terror than them,
And they accuse other groups
And governors
Of secret pacts with the gringos.

And a friend confides in me
That tomorrow he'll
Get a gun
That it's only a matter of killing to continue living,
That he isn't going to make it easy
For anyone. He says:
"I'm going to defend myself,
I'm not going down like this."
That if he saw his life threatened,
They were going to face armed people.

It's been said that ending
The ignorance of the consumer, rather than
The dealer, is the true solution;
But there are those who deal
And others who kidnap and kill
To prove what they believe
Must be proven.

Where is sound advice this time?
If peace reaches those
Who can maintain it.

If a man
Wants to be a man,
No longer a sheep,
It would seem an act of courage.
And also of dignity.

I wish I could see
Beyond what is apparent
To prove I sing for reason.
And that is, the sale
Of drugs has never ceased.
Although each day brings more
Violence to the nation.

And a friend tells me
He's looking for a gun,
That now it's a matter of killing to continue living,
That: "They're not going to take my life
Without me doing something about it," he says.
"I'm going to defend myself,
I'm not going down like this."
