Mmm ...

Vor einiger zeit fand ich ein altes Buch

In dem folgende Geschichte stand:
Vor vielen Jahren fand ein Fischer in seinem Netz
Eine alte bauchige Flasche.
Er öffnete sie und zum Vorschein kam eine Pergamentrolle

Auf der eine Botschaft
Einer längst verschollenen Schiffsbesatzung stand

Die ausgezogen war

Das sagenumwobene Land der Glücklichen zu suchen.
Als der Fischer am Abend an Land kam

Las er seinen neugierig schweigenden Freunden
Diese Botschaft vor:

Wir sind im Land der Glücklichen

In der Südsee weit entfernt von zu Haus.
Hier im Land der Glücklichen
Halten wir's ein Leben lang aus.

Wir lieben das Land der Glücklichen

Unser Leben ist so herrlich und frei.
Wir bleiben hier
Geh'n niemehr fort
Für alle Zeit.

Es brach ein unvorstellbarer Jubel
Unter den Zuhörern aus

Man trank auf die Totgesagten
Bis in den späten Morgen hinein.
Und etwas Geheimnisvolles tat sich im Ort

Land of the Happy

Mmm ...

Some time ago I found an ancient book

In which the following story stood:
Many years ago a fisherman found in his net
An old bulbous bottle.
He opened it and it revealed a parchment scroll

On which a message
Of a long lost ship's crew stood

That had set out

To search for the fabled Land of the Happy.
As the fisherman came ashore in the evening

He read to his curiously silent friends
This message:

We are in the Land of the Happy

In the South Seas far away from home.
Here in the Land of the Happy
We will hold out for a lifetime.

We love the Land of the Happy

Our life is so glorious and free.
We will stay here
Never leave again
For all time.

An unimaginable jubilation broke out
Among the listeners

One drank to the dead
Until late in the morning.
And something mysterious was happening in the village
