Three of us came from that host,
Mighty and loving Æsir to the house.
We found on the land two helpless beings,
Ask and Embla, without destiny.

They had no breath, no spirit, no warmth,
No movement or color or good looks.
Odin gave them breath, Hœnir spirit,
Lóðurr gave them warmth and good looks.
