Ich kenn' ein Dörflein im Südosten von Samoa

In diesem Dörflein in Samoa hat man alles, was man braucht
Und ganz egal, wo was passiert, es nicht dort
Es gibt nur Heiterkeit und Ruh'
Doch wer zieht hin? Nicht ich, nicht du!
Im Gegenteil: die Samoaner ziehen fort

Die Samoaner ziehen nach Japan, nach New York und nach Berlin
Um sich an Umweltschmutz und Aktien zu berauschen
Vielleicht wär's gut, wenn wir indessen nach Samoa rüber zieh'n –
In anderen Worten, mit den Samoanern tauschen

Wir bauen dort Autobahnen, Fernsehen, eine Oper
Gründen Parteien – was man so braucht zu seinem Glück
Die Samoaner schaffen Frieden in Europa
Und dann kehrt jeder in sein Heimatland zurück

Nun wird man sagen, das ist ein Traum
Wer zu viel träumt, kommt in den Knast
Der Kanzler schätzt es nicht, wenn man von Träumen spricht
Doch das Geheimnis, komm gib acht:
Ein Traum gibt Kraft, wir brauchen Macht
Das ist der Unterschied: wo Macht ist und wo nicht

Seit ich das weiß, lässt mich das Los der Samoaner nicht in Ruh'
Ich sag mir: Macht hat immer der, der an sie rankommt
Doch was mich wachhält jede Nacht
Ich frag: Was macht man ohne Macht?
Und in Samoa weiß man das, sobald man ankommt

Ich fange an, die Samoaner zu beneiden
Und hoffe insgeheim, auch sie beneiden mich
Doch wenn ich frag': Wer hat's denn besser von uns beiden?
Dann lässt mich schlicht meine Entscheidungskraft im Stich

Hier ist es hässlicher als dort – dafür ist's dort bestimmt sehr fad
Und wär' man dort, man zöge fort und wieder hin
Wir wollen Macht, wir wollen Traum
Und in Samoa wächst ein Baum
Wer drunter einschläft, träumt begeistert von Berlin ...

Samoa

I know a little village in the southeast of Samoa

Then my decision-making power simply fails me

It's uglier here than there - but it must be very boring there

We want power, we want dreams
