Warum ist der Mann bis heute nicht fair?

Der hat seine Stellung, hat seine Pension
Warum ist der so mies? Was hat er davon?
Warum können führende Menschen auf Erden
Nicht freundlicher, selbstloser, menschlicher werden?
Ich hab' drüber sehr lange nachgedacht
Und jetzt weiß ich die Lösung, geben Sie acht:

Wobei ja wir für sie nur dummes Vieh sind
Ich weiß nicht, wie sich das ändern soll
Weil wir doch leider nie so mies wie die sind
Sie stopfen sich die Taschen und den Magen voll
Die Knochen kriegt der Kanzler, der Kurier
Sie sind so mies, so entsetzlich mies
Und dabei, Freude hab'n die weniger als wir

Aber währ'nd wir davon reden, fällt der Papst mir ein
Der ja auch nicht höher steigen kann, als er schon ist
Aber trotzdem muss er raffen
Seine Pfarrer segnen Waffen
Er hat nichts von seiner Nülle
Doch verbietet er die Pille
Und er sagt den Kardinälen:
"Ich will Seelen, Seelen, Seelen!"
Und verordnet und verlangt und proklamiert
Ja, was hat er denn, was hat der Kardinal
Der Bischof, Erzbischof davon?
Die sind doch alle arriviert!

Aber sie sind so mies. Ja, sie sind so mies
Sie droh'n uns mit der Hölle und dem Himmel

Und wecken uns am Sonntag mit Gebimmel
Der Vater soll die Steuer zahl'n

Die Römer hab'n schon genau gewusst
Warum sie sie nach Möglichkeit verbrannten
Mit Franco Konkordate schließen, das können sie
Wieviel' Tyrannen hab'n sie schon gekrönt?
Sie sind so mies, so beharrlich mies
Ach, ich habe mich bis heute
An die grundlos miesen Leute
Einfach um's Verrecken nicht gewöhnt!

They Are So Mean

When I look at Onassis today,
He wasn't simply made that way.
He was a businessman, perhaps not very refined,
But that was understandable, for he was a small fry at the time.
Then he got big, and now he's really someone!
Why is the man still not fair today?

Or let's take Nixon, he's sitting on top,
He doesn't need to scheme for a better job,
He has his position, has his pension,
Why is he so mean? What does he gain from it?
Why can't leading people on earth
Become friendlier, more selfless, more human?
I've thought about it for a very long time,
And now I know the solution, listen up:

These leading people, they are so mean,
Yes, they are so mean,
The Nixons and the Krupps and the Onassis,
They are so mean, they want this and that,
And they don't even know what's what.
They just want and haggle,
And lie and steal,
And smell the non-existent fuses.
They wish you, I don't know what,
Because you are there and they are there,
And the important thing is: You are below.

They are so mean, Yes, they are so mean,
The big and the smaller criminals,
The most beautiful place won't be a paradise,
They drill the same holes everywhere,
They unscrew your flowers and trees,
And kick you in the stomach with glee.
They are so mean, oh, so terribly mean,
And they think everyone else is too.

If they sit on the supervisory board, in the executive board and administration,
Then they probably want to be president too,
If they are already professor, general and CEO,
They still want to be their own competitor,
If they already have millions and millions and millions,
They still steal ten pennies from the toilet,
And if they are in the newspaper,
They have orgasms every time,
Which they then miss out on in bed.

They are so mean, they are disgusting,
The Rockefellers, Neckermanns and Thyssens,
Only wars they share fraternally,
And you and I and everyone else suffers for it.
They have twenty apartments and farms and estates,
Dividends, mortgages and returns,
But if you squeeze into two rooms
And, God forbid, have children,
They raise the prices and the rents.

They are so mean, they can't get enough,
Whereas we are just stupid cattle for them,
I don't know how that's going to change,
Because we are unfortunately never as mean as them.
They stuff their pockets and stomachs full,
The bones are left for the chancellor, the courier,
They are so mean, so terribly mean,
And yet, they have less joy than us.

But while we are talking about it, the Pope comes to mind,
Who can't climb any higher than he already is,
But still, he has to hoard,
His priests bless weapons,
He has nothing of his own,
But he forbids the pill,
And he says to the cardinals:
"I want souls, souls, souls!"
And ordains and demands and proclaims,
Yes, what does he have, what does the cardinal have
The bishop, archbishop have from it?
They're all well-established!

But they are so mean. Yes, they are so mean,
They threaten us with hell and heaven,
They bless us and smile sweetly,
And wake us up on Sunday with chimes,
The father should pay the taxes,
The mother should go to confession,
The children should be staunch onanists,
Only to Indians and Chinese
They have sometimes been nice,
Because you always need new Christians after all.

It would certainly be no loss for us,
The priests and pastors and altar boys,
The Romans knew exactly
Why they burned them whenever possible.
They can make concordats with Franco,
How many tyrants have they crowned?
