न उनका ख़म निकलता है न हमारा दम निकलता है।
सूरज में लगे धब्बा फ़ितरत के करिश्मे हैं
बुत हमको कहें काफ़िर अल्लाह की मरज़ी है।
गर सियाह-बख़्त ही होना था नसीबों में मेरे
ज़ुल्फ़ होता तेरे रुख़सार कि या तिल होता।
जाम जब पीता हूँ मुँह से कहता हूँ बिसमिल्लाह
कौन कहता है कि रिन्दों को ख़ुदा याद नहीं।
मय = Wine

बख़्त = Fate

Why is there such a commotion only because I've had a little to drink?
I haven't robbed or stolen anything.
I'm not interested in wine that doesn't touch my heart,
My desire is for the wine that pulls me in.
Over there, a comb is running through your tresses, creating waves,
Over here, my breath keeps catching and gasping.
Oh God, have mercy, this tangled mess just keeps growing,
Their curls don't unravel, and my breath doesn't come out.
A blemish on the sun is a marvel of nature,
If they call me an infidel, it's God's will.
If fate had destined me to be unlucky,
A lock of your hair should have been on your cheek or a mole on your chin.
