Σαν τις αλογόμυγες
στης άνοιξης την πλάτη
τώρα χάσκουν αδειανά
τα πολυβολεία.

Τα κοιτώ κι αναριγώ
που μια μέρα είδα
τον αντάρτη τον Ραμόν
στ′ ουρανού την άκρη.

Άρμεγε μια αχτένιστη
μια ρούσα γίδα
κι όπως κοντοστάθηκα
λόγο μου απευθύνει.

"Είναι τόσο όμορφη
η μέρα που πονάει"
και με μια γερή κλωτσιά
όλο το γάλα χύνει.

Like gadflies
on the back of spring
now they gape empty
the machine guns.

I look at them and shudder
where one day I saw
the rebel Ramon
at the edge of the sky.

He was milking an uncombed
a blond goat
and as I stopped
he addressed me.

"Oh, it's so beautiful
the day that hurts my dear"
and with a strong kick
he spills all the milk.
