Come un piccolo mondo che io possa contenere

E allora superando
Le nostre ansie quotidiane
Noi potremmo ascoltare soltanto
Chi ci fa star bene

Noi potremmo più che altro occuparci di noi
Cominciando da adesso
Prima che l′uomo muoia
Nel grande vuoto del suo successo
Noi potremmo costruire
Su un terreno precario e disastrato
Un individuo compiuto
Cosciente e intero

Il luogo del pensiero
Per cercare al di là delle parole
Qualche cosa che assomigli a una morale
Dove un bimbo cresciuto
Senza neanche un modello
Possa già frequentare con rigore
Il giusto e il bello

Un luogo per trovare
Un barlume di coscienza
Dai problemi del sociale
Alla sopravvivenza
Dove il gusto della vita
Pur concreto che sia
Non diventa mai volgare
Perché ha dentro l'utopia
Che è il vero luogo del pensiero

Dove l'uomo del futuro sta crescendo
Con l′idea di sé, ma con l′idea del mondo
Dove l'uomo più solo
Non è mai in un deserto
Se non chiude il proprio cuore
Ma ogni giorno sa tenere il cuore aperto

Coltivando quel tesoro
Che è racchiuso dentro al luogo del pensiero

And yet continuing
Our normal life
We could perhaps understand what we need
What is truly essential to us
We could look
With a certain detachment
Almost smiling
At everything that happens
In the delirium of the world

We could dream
Of an imaginary place
And a little unusual
An invented corner
Or perhaps real

The place of thought
A refuge where we can take shelter
From the anxieties of the present and the future
A space inhabited by the truest things
Like a small world that I can hold

And so overcoming
Our daily anxieties
We could listen only to
Those who make us feel good

We could, more than anything else, take care of ourselves
Starting right now
Before man dies
In the great void of his success
We could build
On a precarious and disastrous terrain
A fulfilled individual
Conscientious and whole

The place of thought
To search beyond words
Something that resembles a moral
Where a child raised
Without even a role model
Can already attend with rigor
The right and the beautiful

A place to find
A glimmer of conscience
From the problems of society
To survival
Where the taste of life
However concrete it may be
Never becomes vulgar
Because it has within it utopia
Which is the true place of thought

Where the man of the future is growing
With an idea of himself, but with an idea of the world
Where the loneliest man
Is never in a desert
If he does not close his heart
But keeps his heart open every day

Cultivating that treasure
That is contained within the place of thought
