For years and years folks got along with an old grandfather's clock

Until he moved the clocks around everything was a goin' fine

His followers always argue that they've gained an hour of light
By moving all the clocks around but I can't see they're right
The sun still rises just the same and sets just as before
If they'd rise 60 minutes early, maybe they'd have an hour more

So why not leave the clocks alone so folks won't be confused
Let 'em hit the floor an hour before if it's daylight that they choose

Seit Jahren kamen die Leute mit einer alten Standuhr aus
Oder nur einer einfachen alten Sonnenuhr, die draußen auf einem Block stand
Dann hatte die Dollar-Uhr ihren Tag und die Armbanduhr war in Ordnung
Dann kam ein Mann, der uns alle mit der Sommerzeit ruinierte.

Ich jage den Mann, der sich zuerst die Sommerzeit ausgedacht hat
Bis er die Uhren umstellte, lief alles gut
Aber ich schätze, er hat sich versteckt und wird nicht herauskommen, er weiß, dass er sich geirrt hat
Ich stehe spät auf, muss warten, kann es nicht verstehen
Wen hat er gehasst, ich meine den Mann, der sich als Erster die Sommerzeit ausgedacht hat.

Seine Anhänger argumentieren immer, dass sie eine Stunde Licht gewonnen haben
Indem sie alle Uhren umstellen, aber ich kann nicht sehen, dass sie Recht haben
Die Sonne geht immer noch genauso auf und unter wie zuvor
Wenn sie 60 Minuten früher aufstehen würden, hätten sie vielleicht eine Stunde mehr

Warum also nicht die Uhren in Ruhe lassen, damit die Leute nicht verwirrt sind
Lass sie eine Stunde früher aufstehen, wenn sie Tageslicht wollen
