Zobaczyć ciebie w świętym Betlejemie,
Tylko że od nas trzeba przejść pół świata,
By w twą zamorską zawędrować ziemię.

Pokaż mi dzisiaj za naszym ogrodem,
Najbliższą drogę do twojej stajenki,
Za to opłatek przyniosę ci z miodem,
Stanę na palcach i podam do ręki.

Snop wezmę z sobą, przyda ci się słoma:
Niech Matka Boska w jakąś noc zadymną
Żłób nią wyścieli świętymi rękoma,
By ci nie było w twej kołysce zimno.

A gdy ci twardo będzie bez poduszek
I smutno - zapal na gwiazdach światełka,
Ja ci dam trochę mych suszonych gruszek
I zeszłoroczne opowiem jasełka.

Jak szli trzej króle z koroną na głowie,
Jakeśmy wtedy zabili Heroda,
I jak na skrzypkach grali pastuszkowie.
Tak ślicznie było. Tyś nie widział. Szkoda.

A potem razem z Betlejem pójdziemy
Do nas pomodlić się gdzieś na pasterce,
I tu usłyszysz, malusieńki, niemy,
Jak kolęduje tobie moje serce

Childhood Christmas Carol

I have been getting ready for a long time, since the very summer,
To see you in the holy Bethlehem,

I will stand on my toes and hand it to you.
