Petrus je mlad šel z dvora,
Kovač pa tesar postal,
A sabljo v deželi tuji
Je viteza zvezd ugnal.
Vanj se je zaljubila

Sta daleč tja do morja.
Zaspala ob njem je v gozdu,
Mu orel je prstan vzel,
Za njim prek' valov na otok
Je Petrus hitel,
Vrnitve pa ni imel.

Se zatekla v neznani grad.

S pogumom si v bitki je hudi

Pred njo obstal,
Spletični je pladenj pal!

A knightly host I made to fade.
A princess fair, Makalonca bright,
Her heart to me did yield.

To the distant, shimmering sea.
In slumber's embrace, she lay in the wood,
And an eagle snatched her ring,
O'er the waves I chased, to an island's shore,
Where Petrus sought to bring,
His love back to her home.

In a fish, her ring I found,
