Je staat in je tuin van je tuin te genieten
En ondanks het weer... staat hij er goed bij
En recht voor je neus ligt een giftige cobra
En een giftige cobra doet geen stap opzij
Je denkt dat je droomt maar je staat niet te dromen
En je hebt niets gedronken en je bent ook niet moe
Je ziet het als plicht de kranten te bellen
Maar voor je kunt bellen slaat de gifslang toe

De natuur heeft prachtige kanten
En alles wat leeft heeft recht om te bestaan
Lang leve de fazanten en alle olifanten
Lang leve de natuur en alle kamerplanten
Maar waarom, waarom, waarom
Heeft er niemand iets aan die cobra gedaan

Je bent onderweg om thuis te gaan slapen
Want je slaapt nergens beter dan in je eigen bed
En een hongerige tijger, die de weg schijnt te weten
Volgt je op de voet, bij elke stap die je zet
Je bent iets beneveld want je hebt wat gedronken
Weinig geslapen en je was toch al moe
Dus je loopt rustig door, tot vlak bij de voordeur
En vlak voor de voordeur slaat de tijger toe

De natuur heeft prachtige kanten
En alles wat leeft heeft recht om te bestaan
Lang leve de fazanten en alle olifanten
Lang leve de natuur en alle kamerplanten
Maar waarom, waarom, waarom
Heeft er niemand iets aan die tijger gedaan

Zwemmen in een zee vol haaien
Lijkt me leuker voor die haaien... dan voor jou
En rennen door een veld vol vleesetende planten
Is een ervaring die niemand missen zou

You are in your garden enjoying your garden

And right in front of the front door, the tiger strikes
