Une abeille un jour de printemps
Voletait, voletait gaiement
Sur la rose bruyère en fleur
Dont si douce est l′odeur

Une pauvre chenille en pleur
Regardait voler dans le ciel
La petite et son miel

Et la pauvre chenille en sanglots

Et l'abeille volait gaiement

Après avoir pleuré jusqu'à la nuit
Notre chenille s′endormit
Mais le soleil de ses rayons
Vint éveiller un papillon

Et sur une bruyère en fleur
Notre abeille a donné son cœur
Tandis que chantaient les grillons,
Au petit papillon

Par les bois, les champs et les jardins
Se frôlant de leurs ailes
Ils butinent la rose et le thym
Dans l′air frais du matin
Ma petite histoire est finie
Elle montre que dans la vie

A bee on a spring day
Flew, flew merrily
On the blooming heather rose
Whose scent is so sweet

A poor caterpillar in tears

The little one and her honey
