فيك تتزلّط، فيك تتحجّب، صيف وشتي على نفس البيت
بين الكنيسة وبين الجامع بار زغيّر كلّ شي جامع،
بطرس، أحمد، ماريو، لامع، سيرج وبرج، فاطمة ولوران
فيها المخلص والشرير، مدينتنا بتساغ الكل
فيها الغني والفقير، هيدي القصة ما رح تنحل
ناس بيحكوا "فغنساوي"، جماعة بتحكي العربية

Land of Contradictions

The whole world asks us: How do you guys even live?
I tell them that this is our country, we're used to it. Tourism, art, and battles, God is our protector, God blesses us,
Whoever wants to come join us, we're the circus of the crazy
My Lebanese friend is a party animal, even when he's broke,
There are no jobs, no work, but at night he wants to go out. The markets are suffering, but the nightclubs and bars are thriving,
Some people are spending, some are running away, some are growing up in tents
Don't be surprised by the contradictions, some people are fat and some are thin,
You can ski in winter and sunbathe in summer, all in the same place
Between the church and the mosque, there's a little bar that everyone goes to,
Peter, Ahmed, Mario, Lamis, Serge, and برج, Fatima, and Laurent,
There's the savior and the devil, our city welcomes everyone,
There's the rich and the poor, this story will never end,
Some people speak French, others speak Arabic,
Steak, harissa, or barbecue, kibbeh, and Japanese sushi,
There are tourists and refugees, lost on the same street, and we're lost among them
Francophiles, Anglophiles,
A minority of Arabophiles
Nationalities, religions, from the Bedouin to سن الفيل,
This country is not normal, and we're not normal either, we go against the grain

We have eighteen sects, but we haven't added eighteen dishes to our cuisine,
The child of debt belongs to a sect, a child who is hungry but never satisfied,
Those who pray and those who get drunk, sitting in the same camp,
The most beautiful soap opera you'll ever watch, theft, betrayal, and nonsense...
This country is not normal, and we're not normal either, but we live in the most beautiful country...
