چه دانستم که این سودا مرا زینسان کند مجنون
دلم را دوزخی سازد دو چشمم را کند جیحون
چه دانستم که سیلابی مرا ناگاه برباید
چو کشتی ام براندازد میان قلزم پرخون
زند موجی بر آن کشتی که تخته تخته بشکافد
که هر تخته فرو ریزد ز گردش های گوناگون
نهنگی هم برآرد سر خورد آن آب دریا را
چونان دریای بی پایان شود بی آب چون هامون
چو این تبدیلها آمد نه هامون ماند و نه دریا
چه دانم من دگر چون شد، که چون غرق است در بی چون

Tasnife Che danestam

What did I know that this whirlwind would make me a madman like this,
It would make my heart a hell and my two eyes a Gihon river.
What did I know that a flood would suddenly carry me away,
As it throws my ship into the middle of a bloody abyss.
It hits the ship with a wave that breaks the planks apart,
Each plank falls down from the different turns.
A whale also raises its head and drinks all the water of the sea,
As the endless sea becomes waterless like a desert.
When these transformations came, there was neither a desert nor a sea.
What do I know how else it became, because it is drowned in the boundless?
