فلک را جور بی اندازه گشته است
جهان را رسم و آیین تازه گشته است
هزار امروز هم آواز زاغ است
گل از بی رونقی ها خار باغ است
نه خندان غنچه نه سرو از غم آزاد
نه گل خرم نه بلبل خاطرش شاد
غم دیرینه گر در سینه داری
چه غم گر باده دیرینه داری
دو چیز اندوه برد از خاطر تنگ
نی خوش نغمه و مرغ خوش آهنگ
فلک را عادت دیرینه این است
که با آزادگان به کین است

Oh my darling, the heavens have become excessively unjust
The world has adopted new and strange customs
Every day is filled with the mournful cries of crows
Flowers have become nothing but thorns due to neglect
Neither the rosebud nor the cypress are free from sorrow
Neither the flower nor the nightingale is cheerful
If you carry an old sorrow in your heart
What does it matter if you have old wine?
Two things can relieve the sorrow of a heavy heart
A melodious reed flute and a sweet-singing bird
It is the ancient habit of the heavens
