Von Johannesburg fort
Sang ich mal vor 30 Jahren
Ich kenn' heut' noch jedes Wort
Neulich sah ich mal durch Zufall
Aus der Zeit ein Plakat
Und ich musste fast schon lachen
Wie ich da ausgeseh'n hab'
Jetzt bin ich 64
Doch es macht mir nichts aus
Komm ich auch aus meinen Schuhen
Nicht mehr ganz so schnell raus
Meine Höhen meine Tiefen
Sind extremer denn je
Vielleicht weil ich heute vieles
Noch viel kritischer seh'
Die Jahre geh'n vorüber
Immer jung immer neu
Doch sie gehen an einem selber
Niemals spurlos vorbei
Irgendwann da steht man morgens
Vor dem Spiegel und weiß
Alles das was man erreicht hat
Hatte auch seinen Preis

So ist das nun mal
Ich trag' heut' noch immer öfter
Wenn mir kalt ist einen Schal
Mit der Zeit fällt's einem leichter
Zu sich selber zu steh'n
Und auch wenn man am Ziel ist
Noch viel weiter zu geh'n
Was heißt das 64
Ist es spät oder früh
Es kann jung oder alt sein
Wirklich weiß man es nie
Wer bin ich in 10 Jahren
Ja und was tu ich dann
Geb ich dann noch Konzerte
Oder schreib' ich große Werke
Ich weiß nur ich fang' immer irgendwas neues an

I sang back then 30 years ago
I still know every word
Recently I saw by chance
A poster from the time
And I almost had to laugh
At how I looked
Now I'm 64
But I don't mind
Even if I don't get out of my shoes
Not quite so fast
My highs my lows
Are more extreme than ever
Perhaps because today I see a lot
Much more critically
The years go by
Always young always new
But they pass by one's self
Never without leaving a trace
One day you stand in the morning
In front of the mirror and know
All that you have achieved
Also had its price
Now I'm 64
That's how it is
I still wear it more often today
When I'm cold a scarf
With time it's easier
To stand up for yourself
And even when you reach your goal
To go much further
What does 64 mean
Is it late or early
It can be young or old
You never really know
Who am I in 10 years
Yes and what will I do then
Do I then still give concerts
Or do I write great works
I only know that I always start something new
