Qua một rư'ng hoang gio' nu'i,
Theo sang giũ bụi đươ'ng trên vai.
Ha'i cây hoa dại lẻ loi bên đươ'ng, gọi hoa Trinh Nữ.
Hoa Trinh Nữ không mặn ma' bă'ng na'ng
Hô'ng kiêu sa.
Hoa đâu da'm khoe ma'u cu'ng một na'ng Cu'c va'ng tươi.
Hoa không ba'n hương thơm như na'ng Dạ Ly' trong vươ'n.
Nhưng hoa Trinh Nữ đẹp tựa chuyện ti'nh hai chu'ng ta.

Xưa thật la' xưa, nhơ' mâ'y cho vư'a nhơ' mẹ kể đêm mưa,
Co' ông vua trẻ xuâ't binh qua rư'ng dẹp quân xâm lâ'n.
Khi vua ke'o quân vê' ti'nh cơ' gặp một giai nhân.
Vua xao xuyê'n tâm hô'n
Mơ'i na'ng vê' chô'n Hoa'ng Cung.
Truyê'n cho khă'p nhân gian đem lụa la' đê'n cho na'ng.
Trên ngôi cao chi'n tư'ng Hoa'ng Hậu đẹp hơn a'nh sao.

Lo'ng vẫn hay buô'n,
Vi' đơ'i thay đen đổi tră'ng, ngươ'i dô'i gian.
Dẫu la' bể vui, cho những ngươ'i nhiê'u ti'nh yêu.
Ca'ng xo't xa nhiê'u.
Trong tiê'ng ha't ve phượng hô'ng la' hoa'ng hậu đo'
Phượng buô'n vi' ti'nh đã tan theo so'ng biển nổi trôi
Nga'n năm trong tôi, ti'nh na'y không phai phôi
Xuân qua he' tơ'i ta nhơ' nhau luôn phượng ơi.
Nga'y đôi ta quen nhau tuổi co'n thơ,
Đi học chung một giơ',
Nhặt hoa đem cho nhau ghi va'o thơ,
Đê'm đâ'u tay ma' chơ'.

Thơ'i gian trôi qua mau không ngư'ng đâu
Mỗi mu'a hoa phượng đâ'u
Tiê'ng ve kêu gợi sâ'u
Phu't chia tay râ'u râ'u
Tiê'c thương riêng mi'nh biê't
Hoặc ti'm trong mă't nhau.
Rô'i khi yêu thương đi va'o tuổi xanh
Đâ't trơ'i vui chuyện mi'nh
Ti'nh tôi mang tâm tư như ti'nh anh
Ươ'c vọng sao mộng tha'nh.
Đư'ng cho nhau tương lai mau nhạt phai
Lữ ha'nh trên đươ'ng da'i
Ca'nh chim bay miệt ma'i
Mă't mi vương u hoa'i

Interlude: Flower of the Virgin - Phoenix of Sorrow - Sea of Love

Through a dense forest and mountain winds,
Covered with dust in pursuit of my duty.
Two wild flowers lonely by the side of the road, called Virgin's Flower.
Virgin's Flower is neither salty nor spicy
Nor flashy.
The flower does not dare to boast its color like the noble yellow chrysanthemum.
The flowers do not spread their fragrance like the jasmine in the garden.
But the Virgin's Flower is as beautiful as our love story.

Long ago, as told by my mother on rainy nights, long, long ago,
There was a young king who led his troops through a forest to quell an invading army.
As the king led his troops back to their territory, he chanced upon a beautiful woman.
The king was captivated
And invited her to the Imperial Palace.
He sent word throughout the land to bring her silks and finery.
On the high throne, she became empress, more beautiful than the morning star.

Her heart was still sad,
Because life changes from black to white, people change their minds.
Even though it was a sea of joy, for those with much love,
It was all the more painful.
In the mournful cry of the phoenix, the empress is revealed
The phoenix grieves because her love has dissolved like flotsam on the sea
For a thousand years within me, this love has not faded
From spring to summer, I will always remember you, phoenix.
The day we met, we were still children,
We went to school together,
Picking flowers to give to each other, writing poems,
Holding hands at night.

Time flies by so fast
Every season, the phoenix flower blooms
The cicadas' cry echoes deep within
The moment of farewell is imminent
The sorrow is known only to us
Or perhaps glimpsed in each other's eyes.
Then, when our love blossomed into adolescence
Heaven and earth rejoiced at our story
My love mirrored your affection
Our dreams were as pure as the dawn.
