Por senderos andinos y azotados de escarchas
Viene arreando el indio con su llamo a la pampa.

Ha cruzado salares, quebradas, arenales
Pukara, aldeas, collas hechas de barra y cañas.
Ya se escucha por la pampa
Tambores, cajas y quenas
El viento lleva las coplas, las tarkas lloran sus penas.

Ya me voy, ya me voy yendo
Para el año volveremos.

Andean Watercolours

Along Andean paths and battered by frost
The Indian comes herding with his llama to the pampa.

He has crossed salt flats, ravines, sand dunes
Fortresses, villages, huts made of sticks and reeds.
Now you can hear over the pampa
Drums, boxes and flutes
The wind carries the songs, the tarkas weep their sorrows.

Now I'm going, now I'm leaving
We'll be back again next year.
